Structured-Light Based 3D Reconstruction System for Cultural Relic Packaging

Abstract: The non-contact three-dimensional measurement and reconstruction techniques have played a significant role in the packaging and transportation of precious cultural relics. This paper develops a structured light based three-dimensional measurement system, with a low-cost for cultural relics packaging. The structured light based system performs rapid measurements and generates 3D point cloud data, which is then denoised, registered and merged to achieve accurate 3D reconstruction for cultural relics. The multi-f… Show more

“…Fringe projection as a non-contact and whole field three dimensional (3D) shape measurement technology with high speed, high resolution, and low cost has been widely employed in diverse fields with biomedical applications, industrial and scientific applications, kinematics applications, and biometric identification applications [1][2][3]. The principle of this method is to measure the deformation of projected fringe pattern demodulated by the height of tested object.…”

“…3D optical measurement has been widely used in various applications like industrial inspection, inverse engineering, robot navigation, and human-machine interaction, etc. [1][2][3][4][5]. Off-the-shelf commercial 3D scanners like structured light system [6][7][8] and laser 3D scanners [9] can perform well in the 3D measurement of diffuse surface or Lambertian surface.…”

“…Vision-based structured light measurement methods can effectively improve the precision of the measurement. Structured light is becoming increasingly popular in areas such as surface reconfiguration, vision navigation and workpiece inspection [6,7,8,9]. There are various forms of structured light, such as dot structured light, line structured light and surface structured light.…”
