Structure–Properties Relationship of Electrospun PVDF Fibers

Abstract: Electrospinning as a versatile technique producing nanofibers was employed to study the influence of the processing parameters and chemical and physical parameters of solutions on poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) fibers’ morphology, crystallinity, phase composition and dielectric and piezoelectric characteristics. PVDF fibrous layers with nano- and micro-sized fiber diameters were prepared by a controlled and reliable electrospinning process. The fibers with diameters from 276 nm to 1392 nm were spun at a volt… Show more

“…Even though PVDF requires a specific approach to patterns, for example sputtering, otherwise widely used methods for patterning other polymers cannot be used, and a sufficient and reliable patterning can today be achieved by a number of methods, most commonly spin-coating of PVDF solution in a polar solvent [ 7 , 8 ]. In the case of nanofiber production, electrospinning arose as the method with the best results and most control over the parameters of the resulting fiber, such as the diameter, inclusions and to some extent even crystalline phases [ 9 , 10 ]. For this reason, electrospinning was also used to create the materials described in this paper.…”

“…To create a PVDF fiber, methods like spin coating or electrospinning, are used to manufacture fibers with stable and repeatable results. Electrospinning specifically has been used in the case of this paper, as it allows for control over fiber diameter, inclusions, and crystalline phase to a certain extent [5].…”

“…Also, when studying the effect of doped or solvent on the bond lengths of polymer materials, it cannot be studied by X-ray diffraction method or SEM method [ 41 , 42 ].…”
