Structure of benzenepentacarboxylic acid

Abstract: C1 iH6Ol0, Mr = 298"2, monoclinic, P2Jn, a =8.1104(2), b= 8.8737(2), c = 16.5061 (5)A, fl= 102.068 (4) °, V = 1161.68 (6) A 3, Z = 4, Dx = 1-70 g cm -3, Mo Ka radiation, A = 0-71073 ]k /x = 1.47 cm-~, F(000) = 608, T = 293 K, final conventional R factor=0.037, wR=0.039 for 1589 observed reflections and 214 variables. The molecules are associated through their carboxylic groups forming a network of hydrogen bonds. The molecule, O atoms excluded, is essentially planar.
