Structure of a galactoarabinoglucuronoxylan from tamarillo (Solanum betaceum), a tropical exotic fruit, and its biological activity

Abstract: Tamarillo (Solanum betaceum) is a tropical exotic fruit whose polysaccharides were extracted from the ripe pulp. After various purification steps, homogeneous fractions (designated PTW, STK-1000R and PF) were analyzed by sugar composition, HPSEC, methylation and NMR spectroscopy analysis. The results showed that the fraction PTW consisted of a linear arabinan with (1→5)-linked α-l-arabinofuranosyl units. Fractions designated as STK-1000R and PF contained galactoarabinoglucuronoxylans, with (1→4)-linked β-d-Xyl… Show more

“…Oppositely, a set of esters was inversely correlated to almost all variables, butanoic, octanoic, and pentadecanoic acid ethyl esters. In fact, in bakery products, as some esters are generated by the increasing amount of alcohols and organics acids during fermentation, some others are originated by an early lipid oxidation of the matrix depending from the initial fatty acid [ 27 ].…”

“…Similarly, in the inflammatory pain mice models induced by acetic acid and formalin, abdominal constrictions and the inflammatory phase of nociception were significantly reduced by intraperitoneal administration of a fraction separated from tamarillo ( Solanum betaceum ), a tropical exotic fruit. The results suggested that the fraction had a possible antinociceptive effect on inflammatory pain models [132]. …”
