Structure, magnetism and catecholase activity of the first dicopper(ii) complex having a single μ-alkoxo bridge

Abstract: Pyridine-2,6-dimethanol shows a neutral, monoanionic and dianionic coordination behaviour with two different coordination modes viz. tridentate and bidentate towards Cu(ii), leading to three different geometric environments around Cu(ii) centers.

“…The value of k cat , 1.04 Â 10 4 is comparable to the reported values. [30][31][32] The ESI-MS mass spectrum of the mixture of Cu(II) complex and DTBC (1 : 100, mole ratio) throws some light on the probable mechanism of the catalytic reaction. The mass spectrum (Fig.…”

“…[9][10][11][12][13] One such renowned enzyme is catechol oxidase, a dinuclear Cu(II)-containing enzyme with type-III active sites. [14][15][16][17] It exclusively catalyses the oxygen-mediated oxidation of o-diphenols (catechols) to their quinones with concomitant four-electron reduction of dioxygen to water in each case. [18][19][20][21] Phenoxazinone synthase, 22 which is yet another hexameric copper oxidase, is naturally present in Streptomyces antibioticus bacteria.…”

“…[16][17][18][19] In recent times, the catecholase activity of transition metal complexes with redox active metal ions have been explored for the development of a bioinspired catalyst. [20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27] Herein, we report the synthesis, characterization, and bifunctional activity of a Fe(III)-Mannich-based complex 1 [Fe III L(bzac)]. For the synthesis of complex 1, N,N 0 -dimethyl-N,N 0 -bis(2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorobenzyl)-ethylenediamine (H 2 L) is used.…”
