“…Single nanofibrils of approximately 8 and 6 nm thickness were observed for V-DMDBS and V-DMDBS-Ac , respectively (Figure b and c, respectively). These structures form bundles that are consistent with nanostructures with diameters in the range of 8 to 200 nm, which is comparable to values reported for other sorbitol derivatives. In terms of length, the DMDBS fibers tend to be several microns long, while the DMDBS-Ac fibers are usually less than one micron long. Both systems exhibit branching along with numerous contacts between fibers, suggesting the formation of a supramolecular polymer network.…”

“…We investigated poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT) [22], [23] as a first donor. This was respectively mixed with poly(3-octylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3OT) [24], [25], coumarin 153 [26,27], purpurin [28], fluorescent brightener 184 [29,30], N-chloroethylene carbazole and 1,3,6,8 tetrachloro 9n amylocarbazole [31,32]. Selected materials of organic photovoltaics must show certain properties -good solubility and photochemical and thermal stability.…”

“…17 Then, our group added sorbitol derivatives (1,3:2,4-dibenzylidene sorbitol (DBS), 1,3:2,4-di( p -methylbenzylidene) sorbitol (MDBS) and DMDBS) into P3ATs and found that these sorbitol derivatives were all nucleating agents for P3ATs. 18–21 The addition of sorbitol derivatives can improve the hole mobility and the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of P3AT-based OPVs. We explored the mechanism in detail and found that adding a nucleating agent can increase the connectivity between the ordered regions in P3HT, ultimately improving the charge transport of P3HT.…”
