Structure and Properties of Epoxy Polysulfone Systems Modified with an Active Diluent

Abstract: An epoxy resin modified with polysulfone (PSU) and active diluent furfuryl glycidyl ether (FGE) was studied. Triethanolaminotitanate (TEAT) and iso-methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride (iso-MTHPA) were used as curing agents. It is shown that during the curing of initially homogeneous mixtures, heterogeneous structures are formed. The type of these structures depends on the concentration of active diluent and the type of hardener. The physico-mechanical properties of the hybrid matrices are determined by the stru… Show more

“…Based on the source of the materials, reactive epoxy diluents can be divided into two types, which are petroleum-based and bio-based diluents. Recently, increasing attention has been paid to bio-based epoxy diluents following the need for sustainability and environmental protection in various fields. Up to now, bio-based epoxy diluents, such as oil-based epoxy diluents and Cardanol-based epoxy diluents have been reported and are commercially available. Among them, Cardanol-based epoxy diluent materials, consisting of rigid benzene rings and long side chains in the molecular structure, are becoming increasingly popular.…”

“…In this case, it can be taken as the polymer self-diffusion coefficient D 2 [ 61 ]. Information on this value and its temperature and concentration dependances is of fundamental importance for analysis of the mechanism of translational mobility of individual macromolecules in various solvents [ 57 , 59 , 61 ].…”

“…The previously described method [ 57 ] was used to construct phase diagrams. In the interdiffusion zone, a solid line parallel to the interference fringes in the pure component regions was drawn ( Figure 1 , red line).…”

“…The ability to use the high strength of thin fibrous reinforcing fillers under various types of external influences appears to be due to the adhesive strength at which external loads are transferred to the fibers [ 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 ].…”
