“…Han, Gu, and co-workers reported several robust RE MOFs bearing 6-c trinuclear clusters in 2017 . Notably, it is challenging to tailor the coordination sphere to stabilize trigonal prismatic RE 3 clusters in coordination complexes, usually requiring chelating or macrocyclic auxiliary ligands. Interestingly, the chemical structures of the two [RE 3 (μ 3 -OH)(COO) 8 ] and [RE 3 (μ 3 -OH)(COO) 10 ] 2– clusters in PCN-992(Eu) are pretty similar, in both of which the three RE ions feature coordination numbers of 8, 8, and 9, respectively, bridged by one μ 3 -O atom and six μ 2 -COO groups. Due to the high adaptability of RE-carboxylate coordination bonds, the 8-c RE 3 cluster consists of eight capping carboxylate groups, while the 10-c RE 3 cluster is surrounded by eight bidentate and two unidentate carboxylate groups (Figure S4).…”

“…The coordination geometry around the Eu atom may be described as a distorted bicapped dodecahedron. Compound 1 is one of the few examples to be structurally characterized in which the Eu(III) atom is coordinated to phen and DMF molecules at the same time [10].…”

“…Moreover, luminescent compounds are attracting much current research interest because of their many applications including emitting materials for organic light emitting diodes, light harvesting materials for photocatalysis and fluorescent sensors for organic or inorganic analytes [23][24][25][26][27]. On the other hand, the coordination chemistry of lanthanides has received interest because of its intriguing variety of architecture and potential applications in various areas such as magnetism, optics, electronics and catalysis, sensors in the biomedical field area [28][29][30][31]. The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide has been used as a model reaction for the investigation of the catalytic activity of various metal complexes [32].…”
