Structure and photocatalytic properties of TiO2-Graphene Oxide intercalated composite

Abstract: TiO 2 -Graphene Oxide intercalated composite (TiO 2 -Graphene Oxide) has been successfully prepared at low temperature (80°C) with graphite oxide (GO) and titanium sulfate (Ti(SO 4 ) 2 ) as initial reactants. GO was firstly exfoliated by NaOH and formed single and multi-layered graphite oxide mixture which can be defined as graphene oxide, [TiO] 2+ induced by the hydrolysis of Ti(SO 4 ) 2 diffused into graphene oxide interlayer by electrostatic attraction. The nucleation and growth of TiO 2 crystallites took p… Show more

“…The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) curves for GO, TiO 2 and GNSTiO 2 shown in Fig. 5 illustrated four distinct regions; in the first region up to 100°C, GO curve shows a weight loss of about 20%, this weight loss could be attributed to the elimination of loosely bound or adsorbed water and gas molecules [33,34]. In the region between 150°C-300°C, GO curve shows a weight loss of about 35%.…”

“…5a, no diffraction peaks are seen in the XRD patterns of both nanocomposites due to the GR. The characteristic peak of GR at 24.5 • might be shielded by the main peak of AB at 25 • [30]. The rest of the peaks which are assigned to the AB sample were well crystallized, in which the diffraction peaks could be readily indexed to the known hexagonal BiPO 4 (PDF File No.…”

“…Graphene is a two-dimensional nanomaterial that has between one and ten layers of sp 2 -hybridized carbon atoms arranged in six-membered rings. It has many unique properties, including interesting transport phenomena, and high Young's modulus (approximately 1100 GPa) [ Importantly, it could be used in pollutant removal in environmental remediation, which has attracted increasing research in recent few years [5][6][7][8][9][10] and is the focus of this review. Aggregation of graphene layers determines the practical specific surface area, and modification of pristine graphene with other compounds will decrease the aggregation and increase the effective surface area.…”
