Structure and magnetic properties of nanocrystalline PrCo3

Abstract: The structure and magnetic properties of nanocrystalline PrCo3 prepared by high-energy milling technique have been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction using the Rietveld method coupled to Curie temperature and magnetic measurements. The as-milled samples were subsequently annealed in temperature range from 750 to 1050• C for 30 min to optimize the extrinsic properties. From x-ray studies of magnetic aligned samples, the magnetic anisotropy of this compounds is found uniaxial. The Curie temperature is 34… Show more

“…Such an increase in the magnetic anisotropy has also been observed in other ball milled samples as well. 16,17 The decrease in FM strength in the ball milled sample for both x = 0 and 5 is identical to that seen in ball milled Ni-Mn-Sn sample. 13 To further study the origin of the large thermomagnetic irreversibility observed in Fig.…”

“…Unfortunately, the applications of this theoretical approach have been limited to the nanosystems containing only the 3d magnetic ions. As to the rare-earth nanomagnets, researchers are still resorting to the two classical approaches [13][14][15][16][17][18][19]. Therefore, a quantum simulating method for rare-earth nanomagnets is imminently needed obviously.…”

“…In addition, nanocrystalline compounds PrCo , Pr Co and Pr Co , constituted of intergrowths of AB -AB stacking blocks, were studied [ 120 , 121 , 122 ]. Thanks to the optimization of their microstructures we obtained the following coercivities 12 kOe, 18 kOe, 15 kOe for PrCo , Pr Co , Pr Co , respectively.…”
