“…Noble metals have been the main components of catalytic converters used for removing nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and unburned hydrocarbons contained in the exhaust gas from automobiles [2]. They work not only as active species in the combustion of volatile organic compounds to harmless water and carbon dioxide [3], but also as an essential material in fuel cells to produce energy through electrochemical processes [4].…”

“…Therefore, it is possible that Pd complexes in the Pd nitrate solution might anchor to Al 2 O 3 by a ligand-exchange between the labile terminal H 2 O ligand with the surface Al-OH group, which is similar to the situation of Pt nitrate solution adsorbing on alumina. It has been reported that Pt complexes in Pt nitrate solution could anchor on alumina through ligand exchange of labile terminal H 2 O ligand with surface Al-OH groups [29], because platinum nitrate adsorbing on the support seems to be faster than hexachloroplatinic acid and can be completed in a few minutes. In preparation of Pd-N catalyst, rapid adsorption of Pd onto the support has been observed, and the subsequent drying process does not influence the Pd distribution on the alumina surface significantly.…”
