Structure and Application of ED-20 Epoxy Resin Hydroxy-Containing Derivatives in Bitumen-Polymeric Blends

Abstract: Abstract. New hydroxy-derived resin with primary hydroxy and epoxy groups has been synthesized on the basis of ED-20 epoxy resin and PolyTHF-2000 oligoether. The structures of the synthesized derivative and the product based on ED-20 epoxy resin and 1,4-butanediol which was synthesized by us earlier have been confirmed by IR-and NMR spectroscopy. The synthesized derivatives were investigated as polymeric components for bitumen-polymeric blends.

“…Recently the researches of the Department of Petroleum Chemistry and Technology (Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv Ukraine) carried out chemical modification of epoxy resins by unsaturated [6] and saturated acids [7], glycols [8,9], hydroperoxides [10]. The modified epoxy compounds contain free epoxy and other functional groups, namely carboxy, primary hydroxy, peroxy, acrylate fragment.…”
