“…The chemical structures of a series of target PAE precursors (PM m ; m is the number of carbon atoms in the n -alkyl-ester side chain, C m H 2 m +1 ) and the corresponding aromatic polyimide, PMDA-TFDB, are presented in Figure . PM m was synthesized from pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA)-based diacid chloride and the −CF 3 -containing aromatic diamine 2,2′-bis­(trifluoromethyl)­benzidine (TFDB) through a conventional solution polycondensation method , in anhydrous N -methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) at ambient temperatures. The para -isomers of the PMDA-based diacid chloride monomers (half-ester derivatives with n -alkyl side chains) were synthesized according to the methods reported in the literature. , The crude PM m was purified by precipitation from the NMP solution into distilled water, washed in acetone for 30 min at least three times to remove the residual NMP, and dried under vacuum at 70 °C.…”
