Structural Study of Faihaa Oil Field in Basra South of Iraq

Abstract: This study used structural contour maps to carry out the geometrical analysis for Faihaa structure in Basra southern Iraq. The study used row data of well logs and structural maps while Softwares were Didger 4, Stereonet v.11 and Petrel 2017 Faihaa Oil Field is located at an eastern part of the Mesopotamian Zone within the Zubair Subzone, characterized by subsurface geological structures covered by Quaternary sediments. These structures are oriented in the NW-SE direction in the eastern part of the band and th… Show more

“…Base map for the study area showing studied boreholes and selected lines of seismic section (K-8 and KK-54) and tectonic map according to Al-Ameri and Zumberge (2012) Six wells data with two seismic lines (Line K8 and KK54) for Jeribe and Azkand succession are used to conducting the geometric analysis which include the description of fold and fault systems for the purpose of understanding the structural setting of Khabaz oil field. There are many previous studies that dealt with structural and geometric analysis of many structural and subsurface geological features using seismic sections and oil wells information throughout Iraq such as Al -Kubaisi and Ahmed (2018) Kareem et al (2021) and Naji et al (2022).…”

“…(2021) used the structural contour maps and well logs to analysis the geometrical of Faihaa field structure in southern Iraq [4]. Also, Aymen et al (2022) used a geological model drilling data of the Faihaa Oil field to determine the structural geological attitudes (interlimb angle, hinge line, and axial surface) by using the geometric and genetic analyses results of Faihaa Oilfield [5].…”

“…Three reservoir units make up the formation (MA,MB,MC). The MB unit is divided into two secondary units (MB1 and MB2), while the MC unit is also divided into two secondary units (MC1 and MC2) (Fadel and Nasser, 2021).It is the largest important carbonate reservoir in southeast Iraq, with 32 structures containing oil (Kareem et al, 2021).Halfaya oil field is one of them. This study aims to determine the microfacies of the formation with a statement of the effect of the various modification processes on the petrophysical properties of the reservoir units.…”
