Structural response of existing spatial truss roof construction based on Cosserat rod theory

Abstract: Paper presents the application of the Cosserat rod theory and newly developed associated finite elements code as the tools that support in the expert-designing engineering practice. Mechanical principles of the 3D spatially curved rods, dynamics (statics) laws, principle of virtual work are discussed. Corresponding FEM approach with interpolation and accumulation techniques of state variables are shown that enable the formulation of the C 0 Lagrangian rod elements with 6-degrees of freedom per node. “…The general nonlinear 6-parameter shell theory is developed in the mixed approach that is neither purely derived nor direct and was described, for example, in [51,52]. The theory accommodates naturally finite displacements and finite rotations and has the same kinematical structure as Cosserat rods, see [53]. The strong ellipticity condition and its weak form known as Hadamard inequality were discussed for the nonlinear 6-parameter shell theory in [54].…”

“…This accounts for a significant proportion of major fatalities that occur among pedestrians, amounting to about 75% in built-up areas and 50% in non-built-up areas. The major cause of accident occurrence among pedestrians is failure to give way for other road users (Miśkiewicz 2019;Bartoszewski and Lessear 2017). Pedestrian crossing is known to cause congestion (NuktaRamadani et al 2017).…”
