Structural properties of Zn1–xMgxO nanomaterials prepared by sol‐gel method

Abstract: The mixed oxides Zn 1-x Mg x O (ZMO) were prepared as nano-polycrystalline powders and thin films by a simple sol-gel process and dip coating method. Thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were used to study the thermal chemistry properties of dried gel. Structural and microstructural analysis was carried out applying x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Rietveld method. Analysis showed that for x < 0.25, Mg replaces Zn substitutionally yielding ZMO single phase, while for x ≥ 0.25 two phases ar… Show more

“…For x≥0.25 two phases ZnO and MgO were identified in the diffraction patterns. More information for structural properties of Mg x Zn 1-x O can be found in [9]. P. Bhattacharya et al investigated the structural and optical properties of Mg x Zn 1-x O (x=0 -0.5) thin films by using pulsed laser deposition technique [10].…”

“…% of Co concentration in the solution. Effect of Co doping on the structural, optical, and magnetic properties was studied previously, [21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28] where variations in the lattice parameters with increase in Co doping concentration were observed. For example, the volume of the unit cells in ZnO increases and the lattice parameters "a" ("c") increase (decrease) with the increase of Co-doping concentration.…”

“…After that the powders were ground, and they were annealed at 600 • C for 30 min under air the same as the annealing of coating samples. Further information on solution and powder preparation can be found in [8,9]. Figure 1 shows the flow chart for the preparation of ZnNiO coatings on glass substrate.…”
