Structural properties and magnetic interactions in Al3+ and Cr3+ co-substituted CoFe2O4 ferrite

Abstract: A series of CoAl x Cr x Fe 2-2x O 4 systems (x = 0.1 to 0.5 in steps of x = 0.1) spinel ferrites have been synthesized successfully using wet chemical co-precipitation technique. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR) and magnetization measurements. The powder XRD patterns confirm the single phase spinel structure for the materials synthesized. X -ray diffraction measurements were performed to yield the lattice constant as function of the amount x corresponding to… Show more

“…The values of crystalline sizes appear constant after x = 0.40; this is also effected by ionic radius and attractive forces between Zr 4+ and Fe 3+ . These observations are in good agreement with several other studies where large metallic ions are incorporated between relatively small metallic ions [2,21,22]. Variation in X-ray density and measured density with respect to concentration of dopant are shown in Fig.…”

“…is is related to the substitution of metal ions (Al) for Si in the SBA-15 framework. Because the ionic radius of Al 3+ (0.51Å) is greater than Si 4+ (0.41Å), the Al-O bond lengths are longer than Si-O bond, leading to increase in d 100 and a 0 parameters [7,17,21]. is result strongly confirms that Al incorporation into SBA-15 framework.…”
