Structural, morphological, and dynamic mechanical properties of Zn‐filled Nylon 11

Abstract: Nylon 11 samples were filled with metal (Zn) fillers of two different concentrations (1 and 5% w/w) each. The samples in the form of disc were obtained by using hot press molder. The structural properties have been investigated using density measurement and wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) technique. The morphology of pure and Zn-filled samples has been studied using scanning electron microscopy. Glass transition (T g ) temperature was determined using dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer (DMTA). The result … Show more

“…All the characteristic absorption peaks of aliphatic nylon displayed in infrared spectrum: 3299 cm À1 (N-H stretching), 2918 and 2850 cm À1 (-CH 2stretching), 1633 cm À1 (amide I, C]O stretching), 1541 cm À1 (amide II, combined absorption peak of C-H stretching and N-H bending), 1278 cm À1 (amide III, C-N stretching), 721 cm À1 (in-plane oscillation absorption peak of -(CH 2 ) n -, n $ 4). 1 H NMR spectrum further approved that the synthesized product is random copolymer of PA11 and PA611, as shown in Fig. 1b The isomorphic crystals of nylon random copolymer…”
