Structural, Electrical, and Optical Properties of the Tetragonal, Fluorite-Related Zn 0.456In1.084Ge0.460O3. -Zn0.456In1.084Ge0.460O3 is prepared by solid state reaction of ZnO, In 2O3, and GeO2 (pellets in sacrificial powder in covered corundum crucible, 1250 C, 16 h). After measuring the properties, samples are further heated under reducing atmosphere 5% H2/Ar (500 C, 5 h). The material crystallizes in the tetragonal space group I4 1/amd (Z = 16, synchrotron and neutron powder XRD) with a structure closely related to that of bixbyite. The reduced form displays an average room temperature conductivity of 99 S/cm and an average optical band gap of 2.88 eV. -(RICKERT, K.; SEDEFOGLU, N.; MALO, S.; CAIGNAERT, V.; KAVAK, H.; POEPPELMEIER*, K.
