Structural Diversity Design, Synthesis, and Insecticidal Activity Analysis of Ester-Containing Isoxazoline Derivatives Acting on the GABA Receptor

Abstract: To explore insecticides targeting the γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor, two series of novel isoxazoline derivatives containing sulfonic and carboxylic esters were designed and synthesized. Their insecticidal activities against Plutella xylostella, Mythimna separata, and Aedes aegypti larvae and their structure–activity relationship were investigated. The sulfonate-containing isoxazoline derivatives (10k–q) exhibited promising insecticidal activities against the three insect larvae. Compound 10o displayed ex… Show more

“…As shown in Table , the mortality rate of Plutella xylostella was measured after 24 and 48 h, respectively. The formula for mortality rate is as follows: corrected mortality rate (%) = (mortality rate of the treated group – mortality rate of the control group)/(1 – mortality rate of the control group) × 100 . All products exhibited satisfactory insecticidal activity compared to fipronil; mortality was almost always greater than 70% after 48h for both APSn and APSn M .…”

“…The formula for mortality rate is as follows: corrected mortality rate (%) = (mortality rate of the treated group − mortality rate of the control group)/(1 − mortality rate of the control group) × 100. 58 All products exhibited satisfactory insecticidal activity compared to fipronil; mortality was almost always greater than 70% after 48h for both APSn and APSn M . Apparently, APSn M had a higher mortality rate than APSn; among them, the mortality rate of APS3 Na was even as high as 90% for Plutella xylostella.…”

“…The molecular structure optimization and minimum energy calculations were performed by the Density Functional Theory (DFT) method of Discovery Studio 2021. Finally, the tested compound’s highest occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO and LUMO) and molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) were obtained, plotted, and visualized. …”

“…Insecticidal activities for the title compounds I, II, and the positive control CHL against the third larvae of M. separata and P. xylostella were evaluated using a leaf-dipping method. 29 Insecticidal activities against wild and resistant type S. frugiperda were tested using an artificial diet method. 30 The larvae were considered dead if they did not show an obvious response to light touch with a brush detected 72 h later.…”
