Structural Chemistry of Metal–Organic Frameworks under Hydrostatic Pressures

Abstract: Studying the structural behavior of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) under hydrostatic pressures is a steadily growing area. The goal of active research is identification of overarching composition–structure principles including both properties of technological relevance and material behavior of academic interest such as material stability criteria, mechanical properties, pressure-induced phase transitions, negative compressibilities, and guest-dependent high-pressure structural responses. Here the current lite… Show more

Thus, among the general shortening of distances, the most significant variation is found in CuÁ Á ÁCu distances decrease by 3.9% when the pressure increases to 3.76 GPa (Table 1).…”

“…Indeed, there are some examples of Porous Coordination Polymers with interesting dynamic structures that have been studied as a function of pressure and temperature in the search for unusual elastic properties. 7,8 However, studies of the behaviour of 1D or 2D flexible systems are scarce. 9,10 In this regard, Cu(I)-X (X = halogen) stimulus-response coordination polymers (CPs) and more specifically those based on double chains that present metal-metal interactions have been studied for decades due to their interesting luminescence and conductivity properties.…”
