Structural Characterization, Antioxidant and Antibacterial Activities of a Novel Polysaccharide From Zingiber officinale and Its Application in Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles

Abstract: A novel polysaccharide (ZOP) was extracted from Zingiber officinale with ultrasonic assisted extraction method. ZOP monosaccharide composition and mole ratio is GlcA: GalA: Glc: Gal: Ara = 1.97:1.15:94.33:1.48:1.07. Then, the particle size of ZOP-NPs prepared by nano-precipitation method was 230.5 nm, and the polydispersity index (PDI) was 0.260. Using ZOP and ZOP-NPs as reductants and stabilizers, ZOP-AgNPs and ZOP-NPs-AgNPs were prepared. They were characterized by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer (UV-V… Show more

“…When the temperature rose to 800 °C, the final mass of ZOP100, ZOP70, ZOP50, ZOP30, and ZOP0 was 14.65%, 21.19%, 21.93%, 29.02%, and 29.66% of the initial mass, respectively. With the increase in ZOP content in composite hydrogels, the degradation degree of the hydrogels increased, which might be related to the biodegradability and thermal degradation characteristics of ZOP [ 36 ]. This high temperature degradation shows that the mixture was almost cross-linked and very stable over a wide temperature range [ 37 ].…”

“…13,14 The molecular weight of GPs can be determined using high-performance gel permeation chromatography and gel permeation chromatography. 2,10,12,21–23 Table 1 presents the molecular weight of GPs obtained by different researchers. Liao et al 5 demonstrated that GPs possessed a wide molecular weight distribution, ranging from 11.81 to 831.75 kDa.…”

“…The monosaccharide composition of GP is commonly analysed using GC or HPLC. 2,10,12,[21][22][23] The information about the composition of GPs serves as the foundation for the properties, structure and activity of polysaccharides and is important for assessing their quality standards. 13,14 GPs have a complex monosaccharide composition, and glucose is the most abundant component.…”
