“…Few studies show that the presence of a suitable doping agent strongly affects the kinetics of this process. Indeed, some metal species can occupy interstitial positions or induce structural changes in metal oxide structures, as is the case of Nb, V, and Ce loaded onto TiO 2 . In accordance with EDX results, it is very likely that the presence of Y or Zr in TiO 2 aerosols affects the kinetic of this process and the freezing of the rutile phase.…”

“…The generated states at the bottom of the CB, due to Nb and Ta, slightly extend the optical absorption range, enhance the photocatalytic efficiency, and increase the conductivity. Experimental results indeed have shown that V and Nb dopants decrease the bandgap of pristine TNT [27], and of thin films [58]. It is worth mentioning that the reduced bandgap of TNT due to doping with Nb is very similar to the reduced bandgap of TiO 2 thin films with the same dopant, namely 0.3 eV.…”

“…As a matter of fact, the Ti 2p peaks for the Nb‐doped sample was shifted toward a higher binding energy from 458.7 to 458.9 eV. Such behavior was attributed to a difference in electronegativity between the Ti and Nb ions, and/or the possible formation of Nb‐O‐Ti chemical bonds . Figure (C) displays the high‐resolution Nb 3d spectra, making it possible to identify Nb 3d 3/2 and Nb 3d 5/2 peaks with Nb 3d 5/2 binding energy at 207.3 eV and spin‐orbit splitting of 2.7 eV, which is close to the standard value for Nb 5+ ions .…”
