Structural and Optical Properties of Triglycine Sulfate Single Crystals Doped with Potassium Bromide

Abstract: Triglycine sulfate crystal and potassium bromide doped triglycine sulfate crystals were grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation method. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis identifies the elements present in the crystal. The Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy has been recorded in the range 400 to 4000 cm-1 and the functional groups of the grown crystals have been identified. The structural studies on the grown crystals were carried out by X-ray diffraction analysis technique and… Show more

“…[6] Since various doping agents like amino acids, organic and inorganic compounds, rare earth have been introduced as doping in TGS crystals. Different metal ion dopants like Mn 2+ , [7] Co 2+ , [8] thiourea, [3] phosphoric acid, [9] potassium bromide, [10] Ni 2+ , [11] etc., are added to modify the optical properties of TGS crystals. [12] In this present work, investigation on the growth and characterization of yttrium-ion-doped TGS crystals (YTGS) have been carried out and the effect of dopant on the growth, structural, morphology, thermal, and dielectric have been investigated.…”

“…In order to overcome this difficulty, several studies have been attempted with different organic and inorganic dopants to achieve effective internal bias to stabilize the domains and desired pyroelectric and ferroelectric properties of TGS crystals [8][9][10][11][12][13]. Alkali halides such as NaBr and KBr-doped TGS crystals were grown, and the effects of the dopant have been investigated [14,15]. Metal ion dopants have been added to modify the properties of TGS crystal [16,17].…”

“…Rare earth metal ions such as La 3+ , Ce 3+ and Nd 3+ are found to modify the morphology and coercive field [9]. Alkali halides such as NaBr and KBr doped TGS crystals were grown and the effect of the dopant on the growth, structural, mechanical and dielectric properties have been investigated [10,11]. However the investigations on TGS doped with NiSO 4 is not studied in details.…”
