Structural and Magnetic Ordering in Fe-Ga Thin Films Examined by Mössbauer Spectrometry

Abstract: The detailed analysis of atomic and magnetic structure has been performed by Mössbauer spectroscopy for polycrystalline Fe80Ga20 films of different thickness ranging from 20 nm to 200 nm. The films were deposited on Si(100) substrate using dual sputtering and evaporation method. Obtained CEMS spectra have been fitted with several Gaussian distributions of hyperfine magnetic field. The results point to the domination of BCC disordered A2 phase and the absence of DO3 and L12 phases in the films. Both hyperfine p… Show more

“…The fi tting procedure of the spectra was performed with PolMoss package based on MS Excel Solver extension. This software was successfully applied in case of high-magnetostrictive Fe-Ga thin fi lms [19]. Each fi tted subspectrum was approximated by the Gaussian distributions of hyperfi ne parameters (in both doublets and Zeeman sextets) convoluted with Lorentzian base lines (Voigt-type profile).…”

“…The spectra have been fitted with PolMoss package (for MS Excel with Solver extension) which was successfully applied e.g. in the case of Fe-Ga thin films [10]. The fitted subspectra were represented by the Voigt-type profile as a convolution of Lorentzian base lines with Gaussian distributions of hyperfine parameters both in doublets and the Zeeman sextets.…”

“…The effectiveness of PolMoss module has been already confirmed e.g. in the analysis of the CEMS spectra of highmagnetostrictive Fe-Ga thin films (Szumiata et al 2011). According to CEMS detector chamber dimensions, the samples had to be prepared as discs 2 mm thick and 15 mm in diameter.…”
