Strong decays of strange quarkonia

Abstract: In this paper we evaluate strong decay amplitudes and partial widths of strange mesons (strangeonia and kaonia) in the 3 P 0 decay model. We give numerical results for all energetically allowed open-flavor two-body decay modes of all ns and ss strange mesons in the 1S, 2S, 3S, 1P, 2P, 1D and 1F multiplets, comprising strong decays of a total of 43 resonances into 525 two-body modes, with 891 numerically evaluated amplitudes. This set of resonances includes all strange qq states with allowed strong decays expec… Show more

“…2 3 D 1 or 3 3 S 1 ss quarkonium. The decay of 3 3 S 1 ss quarkonium has been studied in 3 P 0 model by T.Barnes et al, [28], and this state is predicted to be a rather broad state , Γ ≈ 380 MeV, so Y (2175) should not be 3 3 S 1 ss state. However, the decay of 2 3 D 1 ss quarkonium has not been considered so far, it is urgent and interesting to study …”

“…The hybrid state can decay into 2S+1S meson pairs in relative P −wave, if it is not forbidden by the phase space, e.g, the 1 −− strangeonium hybrid can decay to K * (1410)K, if the problematic state K * (1410) is taken as a 2 3 S 1 state [28]. But the decay mode K(1460)K is forbidden by the "spin selection rule" [13], since K(1460) is a 2 1 S 0 strange quarkonium [28].…”

“…where the mixing angle is θ 1P = −54.7 • which is determined by the heavy quark limit [41,85,86]. The width of D 1 (2420) (Γ = 70 ± 21) was first measured by the ARGUS Collaboration [23].…”

“…Crucial among the various channels to be explored in HyCLAS are those for strangeonia, resonances such as φ (1680), X(1750) and φ 3 (1850) decaying to ηφ . This decay channel is the signature that will unequivocally identify a strangeonium (ss) state [7] and will be a main focus of this study. ηφ , η φ are ss signature decay modes due to their negligible interference with non-strange nn vector decay modes.…”
