Stroke Impact Scale Version 3.0: Study of Reliability and Validity in Stroke Patients in the Turkish Population

Abstract

ÖzetAmaç: İnmeye, spesifik yaşam kalitesi ölçeği olan İnme Etki Ölçeği 3,0'ın (İEÖ 3,0) Türk toplumundaki inmeli hastalarda güvenilirlik ve geçerliliğini değerlendirmek. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmaya toplam 102 hasta alındı. Güvenilirlik, iç tutarlılık (Cronbach α) ve test-tekrar test etme [sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısı (SİKK)] yöntemleri ile; geçerlilik ise İEÖ 3,0'ın alt grup ve total skorları ile Brunnstrom evreleri, Mini-Mental Durum Değerlendirmesi (MMDD), Beck Depresyon Envanteri (BDE), Fonksiyonel Bağımsızlık Ölçeği (FBÖ), Kısa Form-36 (KF-36) skorları arasındaki korelasyonla değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Hastaların yaş ortalaması 61,5±12,5 yıl olup, %52,0'ı erkek %48,0'ı kadın hastadan oluşmakta idi. Tüm alt grup ve total skor için Cronbach α değerleri >0,70, SİKK 0,947-0,999 olarak bulundu. Geçerlilik değerlendirmesinde ise Brunnstrom evreleri, MMDD, FBÖ ile İEÖ 3,0 total skorlar arasında pozitif yönde, BDE ile negatif yönde anlamlı korelasyon bulundu (p<0,05). Kısa Form-36'nın ağrı ve genel sağlık alt grupları hariç (p>0,05) diğer alt grupları ile İEÖ 3,0 total skorları arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişki saptandı (p<0,05). Sonuç: İnme etki ölçeği 3,0'ın Türkçe versiyonunun güvenilirlik ve geçerliliği gösterilmiş olup, inmeli hastaların izleminde ve klinik çalışmalarda kullanımının yararlı olacağını düşünmekteyiz. Anahtar Kelimeler: İnme, inme etki ölçeği 3,0, güvenilirlik, geçerlilik, yaşam kalitesi AbstractObjective: To evaluate the reliability and validity of Stroke Impact Scale 3.0 (SIS 3.0), a quality-of-life scale specific to stroke, in Turkish stroke patients. Material and Methods: One hundred two patients were included in the study. The reliability was assessed by internal consistency (Crohnbach α) and test-retest methods (intraclass correlation coefficient (ICCC)). Validity was assessed by correlation between Brunnstrom stages, MiniMental State Examination (MMSE), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Functional Independence Measure (FIM), Short Form-36 (SF-36), and subgroup and total scores of SIS 3.0. Results: The mean age of patients was 61.5±12.5 years; 52.0% of the patients were male, and 48.0% were female. For all the subgroups and total score, Crohnbach α values were >0.70, and ICCC was 0.947-0.999. With regards to validity, significant positive correlation of the total scores between Brunnstrom stages, MMSE, FIM, and SIS 3.0 and negative correlation between BDI and SIS 3.0 were detected (p<0.05). Except for the pain and general health subgroups (p>0.05), between other subgroups of SF-36 and the total scores of SIS 3.0, a positive significant relationship was found (p<0.05), while there was no correlation between the pain and general health subgroups. Conclusion:The reliability and validity of the Turkish version of SIS 3.0 was shown; hence, we believe that it may be useful in the follow-up of stroke patients and in clinical research.
