Stripline Bandpass Filter with Wide Stopband and Rejection Level Up to 100 dB

Abstract: A novel miniature stripline resonator performed on a double‐layer suspended substrate and bandpass filters (BPFs) based on it are proposed. The filters have wide stopband with high attenuation. A fifth‐order BPF has been designed and fabricated. The filter stopband at level of −100 dB extends up to the frequency that exceeds the passband center frequency by factor of 10. It is shown that miniature filters based on the proposed resonator could be effectively fabricated by low temperature cofired ceramics techno… Show more

“…Besides two transmission zeros at the frequencies f z1 = 925 MHz and f z2 = 1077 MHz, the cross coupling generates a series of spurious transmission peaks at all its resonant frequencies, but their level is lower than the noise level and they are not visible. The first visible peak of −42 dB at f p1 = 9.653 GHz is due to the third oscillation mode of the resonators .…”

“…The idea of 2‐layered structure was presented by several groups nearly the same time . Earlier, we proposed a 3‐layered stripline resonator, which enables designing and fabricating a 6‐pole filter that has 10.7 f 0 stopband with 100 dB depth. Later, a multi‐conductor microstrip resonator was proposed that has sufficiently higher Q ‐factor in comparison to that of other compact microstrip resonators.…”

“…In [11, 12] the second harmonics were removed by equalizing modal phase velocities. In [13], quarter-wavelength resonators were arranged in a double-layer suspended substrate to cancel the high-order mode currents. In [14], using discriminating coupling, the second harmonic was blocked.…”
