Stretchable MoS2 Electromechanical Sensors with Ultrahigh Sensitivity and Large Detection Range for Skin-on Monitoring

Abstract: Although two-dimensional (2D) layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has widespread electrical applications in catalysis, energy storage, display, and photodetection, very few reports are available to achieve MoS2 for electromechanical sensing. Here, we report a novel solution-processed MoS2 strain sensor by constructing nanojunctions between layered MoS2 nanosheets and high-conductivity silver nanofibers (AgNFs) inside an elastic film. Benefiting from the outstanding lubrication property of layered MoS2 nanoshee… Show more

“…The GF reached 95 and 1,118 under strains of 0.09% and 0.61%. The low detection limit and GF were much higher than the numbers reported in the literature ( Biccai et al., 2019 ; John et al., 2020 ; Manzeli et al., 2015 ; Neri and López-Suárez, 2018 ; Park et al., 2016 , 2019 , 2020a ; Pei et al., 2020 ; Qiu et al., 2019 ; Rana et al., 2020 ; Tsai et al., 2015 ; Wu et al., 2014 ; Zheng et al., 2018 ; Zhu et al., 2019a , 2019b ). In addition, the stability testing of the MoS 2 film strain sensor was performed before it was used in practical applications.…”

“…MoS 2 and WS 2 nanosheets can be prepared by direct exfoliation in which the breakage of van der Waals forces is achieved by a variety of ultrasound‐ and stabilizer‐assisted methods. [ 43,160–162 ] For example, one‐pot exfoliation has been used to produce MoS 2 nanosheets via rapid sonication in water and organic solvents containing cationic poly(ionic) liquids. [ 163 ]…”

“…As a new two-dimensional material, molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) have attracted a lot of attention in recent years, and it has been widely used in supercapacitors, microelectronic devices, and batteries because of its rich elemental composition, wide band gap (1.29−1.90 eV), high electron mobility, excellent thermal properties and good mechanical properties [ 22 , 23 , 24 ]. Therefore the MoS 2 has the potential to be used as an electrode material in iontronic pressure sensors.…”
