Stresses in Spherical Shells Due to Local Loadings Over a Rectangular Area

Abstract: Analytical solutions for displacements, membrane stresses, and bending stresses in spherical shells due to local loadings over a rectangular area were developed. The three types of loading considered are radial load, overturning moment load, and tangential shear load.
