Stress-strain Monitoring Technology for Bolted Fasteners Based on 3D- Digital Image Correlation Method

Abstract

The monitoring of stress and strain of bolt fasteners is crucial for stress testing threaded holes and bolt ends. To accomplish this, Three-Dimensional Digital Image Correlation (3D-DIC) technology is employed to capture surface morphological feature images before and after deformation through a digital lens. Using 3D reconstruction and DIC operations, the corresponding coordinates of each pixel of the image are obtained, enabling analysis of the strain and displacement fields. The consistency of the experimental results demonstrates that the DIC method is a suitable approach for monitoring stress on bolt and hole edges.
