A computer model of creep deformation incorporating the thermodynamics of glide and recovery is presented. The model is able to provide possible explanations for the results of stress drop experiments in which either a delay time or a sharp change in strain rate is observed. The effect of the ease of glide on the recovery controlled creep rate is also explained.
