Stress-Induced Effects in Yellow and Green Excitons of Cu2O Thin Films Sandwiched by MgO Plates

Abstract: We investigated stress-induced shifts of the band gap energies in both yellow and green excitons in a Cu 2 O thin film sandwiched by paired MgO plates. We found that, in such thin Cu 2 O film, the stress owing to the lattice mismatch between Cu 2 O and MgO affects the base-wavefuncitons of the yellow and green excitons in a different manner and causes much larger red-shifts in the green excitonic system than those in the yellow excitonic system.
