Stress Distribution Around a Circular Hole in Square Plates, Loaded Uniformly in the Plane, on Two Opposite Sides of the Square

Abstract: The complete stress distribution around a circular hole, located in the center of a square plate, has been determined photoelastically for the case of the plate loaded uniformly on two opposite sides. The study was conducted parametrically for a range of the ratio D/W of the diameter of the hole to the side of the square from 0.20 to 0.83.
