Abstract: Background: The literature associates oxidative stress with the production of free radicals, which lead to neurodegeneration. They present innumerable hypotheses, among which are abnormalities in the functioning of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, neurotoxic effects and neuronal oxidative damage.
