Stress

Abstract: Work related stress has gained considerable attention of researchers in recent decades. In general, stress has been examined as a stimulus (stressor), as a psychological, behavioral, or physical response (strain), and as a dynamic transaction between the individual and the environment. This essay highlights historical and contemporary approaches to studying work related stress, including key theories, causes of stress, outcomes associated with stress, and issues related to coping with stress.
