“…An SBA approach is necessary for use with Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and students with long-standing histories of discriminatory referral and assessment practices. Paz et al, (2021) suggest the adoption of a speci c SBA model should be based on: (a) a conceptual framework of positive psychosocial strengths; (b) feasibility and utility as school-based universal screening measures (reasonable length and availability of self-report); and (c) evidence of compelling psychometric properties, including replicated validity and reliability.
