“…The simulated results showed that the mechanical properties of polyCu were sensitive to high strain rates (1 × 10 9 s −1 ∼5 × 10 10 s −1 ), but the properties did not change much at low strain rates (5 × 10 7 s −1 ∼1 × 10 9 s −1 ). In addition, MD simulations are also widely used in the calculations of polycrystalline graphene reinforced Al matrix composites [10] and other materials [11,12].…”

“…Aluminum is the most widely used alloys in industries due to its light weight, high strength and excellent thermal/electrical conductivity. Large amounts of researches are focused on the incorporation of graphene into Al matrix and many good results are obtained [18,96]. Concluding from dazzling literatures, the microstructural characteristics which are formed during fabrication of GNP-Al composites and contributing to the enhanced mechanical property mainly include: (i) Grain refinement as indicated in figures 7(a)-(b): the embedding of graphene into Al matrix often leads to grain refinement, which is due to hindering effect of graphene on the atomic diffusion and dislocation movement during thermal/ mechanical processing, hence contributing to the enhanced mechanical property.…”

“…Graphene is an emerging reinforcement material. Due to the unique two-dimensional structure of graphene, it has ultra-high thermal conductivity (up to 5300 W/(mK)) and excellent mechanical properties [ 6 , 7 ], and has been made a good selection for different industrial applications [ 8 , 9 , 10 ]. Graphene nanoplates (GNPs) are used as reinforcements and added to the pure copper metal matrix to prepare GNPs/Cu composites.…”
