Strength Reduction of Coal Pillar after CO2 Sequestration in Abandoned Coal Mines

Abstract: CO 2 geosequestration is currently considered to be the most effective and economical method to dispose of artificial greenhouse gases. There are a large number of coal mines that will be scrapped, and some of them are located in deep formations in China. CO 2 storage in abandoned coal mines will be a potential option for greenhouse gas disposal. However, CO 2 trapping in deep coal pillars would induce swelling effects of coal matrix. Adsorption-induced swelling not only modifies the volume and permeability of… Show more

“…Image processing is carried out on the profile of the tunnel after blasting [30][31][32][33][34][35][36], and the ratio of overexcavation or underexcavation is calculated by the proportional image. It is found that the overexcavation quantity of the right side using the cutting seam charge is small than that of the left side.…”

“…Some researchers considered rockburst as microseismic events that result in severe damage to rock mass structure with sudden or intensive acoustic emissions [25][26][27]. Microseismic monitoring technology has been widely used in rock mechanics and provides a feasible way to predict or prewarn rockburst [28][29][30][31]. Feng et al proposed a neural network prediction model based on the microseismic monitoring information [1].…”

“…erefore, it is very important to select an appropriate detonator and identify the accurate delay time. Furthermore, the appropriate detonator section and delay time should be selected based on the cross section of the tunnel, the layout of blasting boreholes and geological conditions, and so on [12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20]. Most importantly, it plays a vital role in the improvement of blasting footage and the control of vibration.…”
