“…Although there is no evidence of a direct link between strength-based parenting and meaning in life and prosocial behavior, previous research suggests that parenting practices and styles are closely related to the development of a sense of meaning in life (Kealy et al, 2022;Kolarik, 2010;Lambert et al, 2010) and prosocial behavior (Batool & Lewis, 2022;Carlo et al, 2007;Clark et al, 2015;Hastings et al, 2005). Consistent with the findings of this study, there is also evidence that this positive parenting practice is a significant and positive predictor of adolescents' subjective well-being (Arslan et al, 2022b;Waters, 2015a) and helps them overcome adverse experiences and stress (Allen et al, 2022;Waters, 2015b). Positive parenting practices characterized by consistent rules, positive communication, promotion of positive attributes, and safe opportunities enhance adolescents' social and emotional maturity (Naik & Saimons, 2014) and promote the socialization process (Batool & Lewis, 2022).…”

“…This scale was used to assess parents' knowledge and use of strengths (Jach et al, 2018). The internal reliability coefficient for this scale were strong for Turkish adolescents (Arslan et al, 2022b) and for the participants in the present study (see Table 1).…”

“…Specifically, strength-oriented parents acknowledge the things that their child is able to do well and encourage their child to use and develop their strengths ( Waters & Sun, 2016 ). Research on SBP has identified two overarching findings: (1) SBP is a protective factor that is inversely related to anxiety, depression, stress, and negative emotions; and (2) SBP is an enhancing factor that is positively related to life satisfaction, self-confidence, subjective wellbeing, positive emotions, and academic grades ( Arslan et al., 2022 ; Jach et al, 2018 ; Loton & Waters, 2018 ; Sağkal & Özdemir, 2019 ; Waters, 2015 ; Waters, Loton, & Jach, 2019 ).…”
