The stratigraphy of the Asian mega deltas records deposition of intertidal or shallow marine sediments unconformably over an eroded Pleistocene alluvial surface or conformably trans gressive estuarine sediments (Tanabe et al, 2003a(Tanabe et al, , 2003b. The penultimate stages of transgression, as sea level rose, were recorded by the deposition of organic muds associated with mangrove forests in intertidal environments, aggrading and onlapping progressively landward.…”
