“…Specifically, C2H6 content reaches up to 9.8% in Charleston coals, ranges between 2 and 11% in Fair Hill Formation seams, and between 0.6 and 4.8% in Fruitland Coalbed Gases. [40][41][42] Moreover, Ripepi observed that the fraction of C2H6 increases from 0.2% at 1,486 ft to 4% at 2,017 ft subsurfaces, which suggests that deeper coal seams hold a greater C2H6 concentration. 37 Julien took type I kerogen fragments to determine the adsorption properties of pure CH4 and C2H6.…”

“…The numbers of H 2 O molecules are 11 (0.59 mmol/g), 22 (1.2 mmol/g), 33 (1.67 mmol/g), 44 (2.23 mmol/g), and 55 (2.79 mmol/g), with from 1 to 5 wt % moisture content. For a better understanding, Figure 5(a) shows the molecular distributions of 0−5 wt % moisture content.…”

“…In shale gas reservoirs, C 2 H 6 content reaches 11.8% in Barnett shale, 16.1% in Marcellus shale, and 4.9% in Antrim shale, exhibiting C 2 H 6 , present in large deposits in gas shales, and the influence of C 2 H 6 cannot be overlooked . In coalbed reservoirs, the C 2 H 6 content approaches 9.8% in Charleston coals, ranges between 2 and 11% in Fair Hill Formation seams, and is present at 0.6 and 4.8% in Fruitland Coalbed Gases, showing that C 2 H 6 deposition cannot be ignored in coalbed reservoirs. In addition, Ripepi found that the C 2 H 6 content increases from 0.2% at subsurface 1486 ft to almost 4% at 2017 ft, suggesting that C 2 H 6 holds a more significant amount in deeper coal seams . Experimental work by Liu et al was conducted on molecular sieves and activated carbon, and it was observed that C 2 H 6 has higher adsorption than CH 4 and preferentially adsorbed behavior over CH 4 in the binary mixture .…”
