The green hub‐and‐spoke airline network (GHSAN) is emerging as a dominant feature due to its excellent economic and environmental‐friendly capabilities. However, environmental GHSAN designs still have some concerns, including single pollutant‐domain oversimplification and lack of comprehensive network‐level operation impacts. This paper proposes a multi‐emission‐driven efficient network design approach for GHSAN, utilizing a system, green, and user threefold optimization methodology. The approach includes a multi‐objective optimization model and a two‐layer solving method. The multi‐objective optimization aims at minimizing multiple emissions, including carbon dioxide, carbonic oxide hydrocarbon, and nitric oxide, while also considering transportation system costs and journey user costs. A two‐layer optimization algorithm is adopted to address different scales of optimization. Real‐world results demonstrate that the proposed method mitigates environmental impact and user costs and increases overall airline density in airline networks. The proposed method can have a 16.29% reduction in green‐fold (10 nodes) and a 12.06% decrease in user costs for the user‐fold (10 nodes). As the number of nodes (15, 25, 50 nodes) and hubs (3, 4, 5, 6, 7 hubs) increase, the genetic algorithm (GA) proves to be more efficient and suitable in large‐scale GHSAN. This work is further significant for the long‐term and sustainable development of the future air transport industry.

Fabrikazio gehigarri metalikoa, geometria konplexuak, diseinu pertsonalizatuak eta ezaugarri funtzionalei eskerrak, osagai berrien garapenerako prozesurik eta berritzaileenetakoa bihurtu da. Horregatik, lan honetan aeronautikako sektorean erabiliko den zulagailu industrial baten karkasaren diseinua optimizatzeko fabrikazio gehigarriaren gaitasuna aztertu da. Ikerlan honen helburua zulagailuaren tenperatura kontrolatu eta mugako balio onargarrien azpitik mantentzea da, horrela modu jarraituan erabili ahal izateko eta eragiketaren produktibitatea handitzeko. Zulagailuaren portaera aztertu eta diseinua optimizatzeko bere digitalizazioa gauzatu da ANSYS Workbench 2021-R2 softwarearen bidez, eta emaitzen baliotasuna bermatzeko metodologia zorrotza jarraitu da. Lehenengo pausuan, zulagailuaren diseinuan erabiliko diren gainazal mota ezberdinen (laua, erretikularra, giroidea, hegalduna, etab.) portaera analizatu da, bakoitzaren beroa disipatzeko gaitasuna zenbatesteko. Ostean, bigarren pausuan, egungo zulagailuaren diseinuaren portaera aztertu eta barruko bero-iturria karakterizatu da. Horrekin guztiarekin, zulagailuaren karkasaren diseinu berri bat proposatu da, funtzionaltasuna mantenduz, baina hozketa gaitasuna hobetuz. Behin diseinu berria erabakita, hauts ohantzeko teknologia bidez (laser Powder Bed Fusion, L-PBF) fabrikatu da eta esperimentalki baieztatu da bere funtzionamendu zuzena.

Parallel hybrid-electric propulsion systems for small scale unmanned aerial systems (UAS) when tested with an internal combustion engine are susceptible to damage due to increased torque compared to all-electric configurations. The University of Victoria Centre for Aerospace Research has conducted testing and identified several locations in the system for potential upgrades. One of the largest issues identified was the electromagnetic clutch’s inability to handle the torque of the Corvid-50 engine. Thus, a new clutch and powertrain system was specified which is better rated for combustion operation. Similar findings are reported based on testing performed at Ł-Institute of Aviation, where a hybrid-electric powertrain stand experienced torque spikes. The spike amplitude was several times higher than the nominal momentum of the ICE, given in the specification sheets. In result, at some working modes, a strong slippage of the clutch has been observed. It is also of highest importance to propose and test potential methods to minimize momentum influence to the powertrain. The goal is to increase robustness of such hybrid systems, and decrease the overall mass of the system.
