Strategies for Preservation of Electronic Information Resources in Academic Libraries in Nigeria

“…Preservation of electronic contents has become an issue in University libraries. Therefore, there is need to ensure the sustainability of electronic resources through proper preservation, even though it has been realized that the preservation of electronic resources is not as simple as the printed materials due to non-availability of appropriate criteria relating to the format and media type (Ilo, Fagbohun, Idiegbeyan-Ose, Esse, Nwokeoma, Adebayo, Olawoyin and Osinulu, 2018). “…The form and content of electronic resources and records are liable to change from time to time. Therefore, it behooves librarians to ensure that electronic records are properly preserved to ensure continuous sustainability (Ilo, Fagbohun, Idiegbeyan-Ose, Esse, Nwokeoma, Adebayo, Olawoyin and Osinulu, 2018). It can therefore be recommended that library stakeholders should network together to ensure electronic resources are well preserved for continuous use.…”
