Strain derivatives ofTcin HgBa2CuO4+δ: The CuOet al.

Abstract: The strain derivatives of Tc along the a and c axes have been determined for HgBa2CuO 4+δ (Hg1201), the simplest monolayer cuprate with the highest Tc of all monolayer cuprates (Tc = 97 K at optimal doping). The underdoped compound with the initial Tc of 65 K has been studied as a function of pressure up to 20 GPa by magnetic susceptibility and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The observed linear increase in Tc with pressure is the same as previously been found for the optimally-doped compound. The above results have … Show more

“…For pressures higher than 8 GPa, the streaks around the (±1, ±1, L) Bragg spots of the average structure In Figure 1d, we show the evolution of the resistivity with pressure. Up to 5 GPa, T c increases with a slope of 1.2 K/GPa, a value slightly lower than previously reported for nominally optimal doped samples [19,20]. This indicates that the investigated samples are probably well on the summit of the doping parabola.…”

“…For example, specifically strained HgBa 2 CuO 4+ δ can have almost identical CuO 6 octahedra as La 2− x Sr x CuO 4 , however, the large difference in their T c values remains62. This might be related to the different values of n d and n p for these families.…”

“…Single-crystal XRD measurements provided evidence for the existence of oxygen ordering, which indicates that P-induced oxygen ordering suppresses superconductivity in cuprates. The measurements of the superconducting and structural properties on an underdoped Hg1201 revealed almost the same increase in the T c with P compared to the optimally doped compound (Wang, et al 2014). The copper and oxygen bond distances alone were inadequate for explaining the large difference in the T c between the optimally doped Hg1201 and La 2-x Sr x CuO 4 .…”
