Storoke-based Suibokuga-Like Rendering for Three-Dimensional Geometric Models

Abstract: Non-photorealistic rendering has become an important research topics in computer graphics in recent years. We have previously proposed a non-photorealistic rendering method to generate Suibokuga-like images of trees. This method was suitable only for representing trees in Mokkotsuho paintings because the images were generated from three-dimensional skeleton data. In this paper, we propose a method to generate Suibokugalike images of arbitrary objects from three-dimensional geometric models, such as polygonal m… Show more

“…Thus we select tree point clouds as the input. Compared with the methods based on the skeleton model [Zhang et al 1999] and the polygonal model [Sato et al 2004;Way et al 2002], our method is more robust because it is based on raw 3D point clouds of the trees. However, the methods based on the skeleton model and the polygonal model pay more attention to the rendering of trunks and ignore the rendering of leaves that are emphasized in our method.…”

“…It is noted here that the second kind of methods are what we concern about. At present, in the second kind of methods, the given geometric models of trees to be rendered include skeleton model [Zhang et al 1999] and polygonal model [Sato et al 2004;Way et al 2002]. In this paper we firstly present a concise and novel rendering method based on the point clouds tree models, which is another kind of geometric models of trees and could provide more details about trees, in Chinese ink painting stylization.…”
