“…6). The average level of total TEQ PAHs found in sediment samples of the Tiber River and its Estuary was lower than in the sediments of Bahia Blanca, Argentina (Oliva et al, 2015) and in the sediments of Loire River, France (Bertrand et al, 2015); but were similar to those found in in the sediments of Mithi River, India (Singare, 2015) and the sediments of Cauca River, Colombia (Sarria-Villa et al, 2016). This showed that TEQ PAHs values of the Tiber River and its Estuary were in a low level and indicates that less ecological risk exists in the Tiber River basin.…”

“…This basin was historically one of the main coal extraction areas in France with a high density of urban population and industries (gas, weapons, tools…) until the 1980s. As for PAHs (Bertrand et al, 2015), the Ondaine-Furan corridor was likely the main contributor to the Upper Loire PCB contamination. In the Middle Loire River stretch, several urban and industrial zones are found (Nevers,Orléans,425 Tours), albeit the low quantity of data available does not allow to evaluate PCB pollution trends originating from those areas.…”

“…Correlations between PAH have been used in several studies as a complement to PAH ratios for conducting PAHs source identification (Bertrand et al, 2015;Soclo et al, 2000). In the current research, SPM PAH concentrations for several 4 to 6 rings PAH showed a significant correlation with a coefficient above 0.9 (Table S1).…”
