“…Although the major focus of the article is on that highly publicized US-Mexico border, which is the referent for much current scholarship conducted in border studies, it is important to acknowledge international interest in matters related to borders. For example, a substantial body of work conducted in Europe addresses the cultural and linguistic hybridity resulting from immigration (e.g., Essomba, 2012; Sánchez & García, 2011) as well as border issues between member states in the European Union (e.g., Beerkens, 2010; Rovisco, 2010) and between member states and their non-member neighbours (e.g., Ellaeson & Nadezhda, 2010; Ivakhiv, 2006). Other questions arise relevant to cross-national borders associated with the European Union’s Euroregions.…”
