Stoffwechselprodukte von Mikroorganismen 49. Mitteilung. Die Ferrioxamine A1, A2 und D2

Abstract: The structures of the ferrioxamines A1, A2, and D2, minor components of the sideramine mixtures from cultures of Streptomyces, have been determined by degradation and, in part, by synthesis. Whereas the previously investigated ferrioxamines B, D1, E, and G contain but a single basic component, 1‐amino‐5‐hydroxylaminopentane, the ferrioxamines A1, A2, and D2 contain in addition to this base its lower homologue, 1‐amino‐4‐hydroxylamino‐butane.

“…Hydroxamate siderophores-DFOB is a tris-hydroxamate terrestrial bacterial siderophore produced by gram-positive actinomycetes and by several gram-negative species (Keller-Schierlein et al 1965;Mucha et al 1999). Recently, desferrioxamine G, a siderophore very similar in structure to DFOB, was shown to be produced by a coastal marine Vibrio species (Martinez et al 2001).…”

“…Six organic Fe complexes were chosen for this study: two synthetic metal chelators, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and diethyltriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), and four natural, strong organic Fe ligands: desferrioxamine B (DFB), rhodotorulic acid, (–) ‐gallocatechin, and phytic acid. Desferrioxamine B is a linear hexadentate trihydroxamic acid siderophore produced by species of the terrestrial bacteria Streptomyces and Nocardia [ Keller‐Schierlein et al , 1965; Mueller and Raymond , 1984]. Rhodotorulic acid is a tetradentate linear dihydroxymate bacterial siderophore isolated from Rhodotorula pilimanae [ Atkin and Neilands , 1968].…”

“…1). Up to five different compounds from the set comprising DFOA 1 , DFOA 2 , DFOD 1 , DFOD 2 , DFOB, DFOE, DFOG, or DFOH, have been reported as biosynthetic products from different Streptomyces species, [57][58][59][60][61][62][63][64][65] but to the best of our knowledge, this is the highest number of siderophores from the desferrioxamine class produced by a single actinomycete species. The ability to detect these low abundance species was due to the resolution of the siderophore metabolome afforded by Ni(II)based IMAC.…”
