Stochastic modelling of spatial variability of petrophysical properties in parts of the Niger Delta Basin, southern Nigeria

Abstract: Three-dimensional models of petrophysical properties were constructed using stochastic methods to reduce ambiguities associated with estimates for which data is limited to well locations alone. “…A stochastic model is used to predict reservoir properties in the interwell space, knowing that the distance between two points has an inverse relationship with the similarity in rock properties (i.e., similarity in rock properties decreases with the increase in distance of separation) (Fournier 1995;Contreras et al 2005). Property modeling involves distributing properties between wells to match well data and realistically maintain the reservoir heterogeneity i.e., to describe variation in properties using different geostatistical methods (Ebong et al 2019).
